I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist choosing to work under the umbrella of coaching as a way to help people grow in their skills in relationships, careers and families. Not everyone wants or needs long term therapy. Sometimes people need the guidance and support of someone who is ready to jump in and help you implement changes.
I have been married to a pastor for the last 25 years and really enjoy helping people incorporate their spiritual selves with their physical and emotional selves.
In my role as a coach I will not be diagnosing or treating mental health disorders. If you are looking for a therapist I encourage you to look at the Psychology Today website and search for therapists in your area.
As a coach with a trained background in Marriage and Family Therapy my approach is to help you make connections in current situations and begin making changes in your life that so you can "stand taller" and be more confident in the person God has made you to be. We are not working from a lens of mental health diagnosis, instead working on goals that you desire for yourself.
My approach is centered around helping my clients cultivate self-awareness, identify their values and goals, and create actionable steps towards achieving them. I tend to operate from a Cognitive Behavioral lens. I am committed to providing a safe and non-judgmental space for my clients to explore their inner world and work towards their desired outcomes.
I offer a range of coaching sessions including one-on-one coaching sessions and couples coaching sessions if requested. You can schedule one coaching session or ongoing sessions. My areas of expertise include stress management, work-life balance, relationship transitions, and personal growth, especially facilitating learning to change your negative self-talk to positive self-talk. I am also able to help coach you through anxiety and stressor management when it has cropped up in relation to a recent life event or stressor. Anxiety coaching is focused on the present and future, aiming to help individuals develop practical strategies to manage anxiety symptoms. Coaching can help you create healthier habits to improve your mental state and maintain your well being in the future
Passion areas I love working with are clients experiencing "sandwhich generation" burn out and the many decisions and roles this plays. I am especially tender to the Dementia journey as my sweet mom "Grace" has entered the late stages of her Alzheimer's journey. I also love helping clients or couples who grew up in the Conservative Christian church become more comfortable and accepting of their sexual selves. Helping clients navigate their relationship with their adult children is another area I enjoy working with.
